Oral contraceptives contain hormones that suppress ovulation. During ovulation an egg is released from the ovaries, without ovulation there is no egg to be fertilized and pregnancy cannot occur.

Birth Control Pills that contains prosthetic progestin helps thickens the cervical mucus which hinders the movement of sperm, it also slow down the egg’s ability to travel through the fallopian tubes and it somewhat suppress the sperms ability to unite with the egg.
