Hi, I have been on the pill for over 20 years with no breaks, i was told back in June that I had to go on the mini pill as I am now 40 Which I did I put on over half and stone and kept getting lots of spots, I was told by my GP that my periods stop which was Ok but I am not sure I liked the fact on not having a period. I then read about the iud copper coli and decided that I would try it, it was fitted on the 12 sept it was painfull for the first day only, As I have not had a period since june my GP told me that I would not have a period for a few weeks untill my body got use the the coil but the next day my period started, and I have only had 2 free days. Could you please let me know if this has happen to anyone else and if this is normal and when cam I expect my period to stops. Many thanks fiona

Hi Fiona, I had the Copper Coil fitted 4 months ago.
When my coil was fitted I also had some light bleeding (spotting) for around 2 weeks, I wouldn't really class this as your period.
This is quite normal for it to happen so try not to worry too much, it should settle down within a couple of days or so.
