I just gave birth to a healthy baby boy last March this year. My husband was away for work training days after I gave birth but now that he is back home, I need to take birth control pill. My question is since I breastfeed my four-month old baby boy, is it then safe to take control pill while breastfeeding? I really need your smart opinion. Any ideas are highly appreciated.

Many other forms of contraception are appropriate for breastfeeding women. So, if you would like to take birth control pills while breastfeeding, ask your ob-gyne or your healthcare provider which pills suits you best.

Women who are breastfeeding are advise to use progestin-only pills because they do not affect breast milk.

I agree with you Lizzie, breastfeeding mom should not take oral contraceptives with estrogen and progestin because these hormones may decrease the production and quality of breast milk.

in addition to that, i don't think you still need to to take pills as you have mentioned earlier that you are still breastfeeding your baby, because breastfeeding is another form of preventing another pregnancy.

i agree with liz! maybe you can start taking pills by the time you decide to stop breastfeeding.

i see.. but i think it will only work if your breastfeeding your baby full time. in my case been mixing my baby with formula.

if that's the case then you really should take birth control pills. take the low dosed form of pills.
