I'm wondering how alone I am in this...

I had my IUS fitted on the 5th day of my period on the 20th May 2011, my periods last for up to 10 days anyway; but I'm STILL bleeding. After 3 weeks I went back to get it checked out, I was worried I may have an infection (I get random bouts of BV occasionally) but everything was fine. I'd also recently had a full STI screening so I knew it wasn't something like that.

I was ultimately told to go back 6 weeks from the date of the fitting to check again and that things should settle in 3-6 months. A 3-6 month period sounds torturous, has anyone else had this problem or something similar?
