luji, Abstinence or celibacy means different things to different people. But most people define it as not having sexual intercourse. You can practice it whether you're straight, gay, bi, virgin or not, and you get to decide your own reasons for doing it. For some people, these reasons are moral or religious, for others they have to do with preventing pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases.

Sexual abstinence is a choice to refrain from sexual activity. This choice is usually made for a specific reason. It may be moral, religious, legal, or for health and safety.

Is it not weird to choose abstinence?I just wanna know f there are people still doing this?

hello_Cathy - November 4th, 2009 3:30 AM

lily rose, there's nothing weird with choosing abstinence - it's just like choosing to use a condom or hormonal contraceptive. It's about what you want for you, your body and your life. There are still some people who are doing this, even people who have tried sex but afraid to get pregnant or for whatever reason they have. It's your choice.

hi!i think abstinence is the safest and hassle-free but it takes a lot of discipline...

mitch - November 11th, 2009 6:18 AM

genarally speaking, i think abstinence is impossible as we all know that many people are sexually active. so this won't work the way we expected. this shouldn't be a form of birth control method either.

i agree with you mitch. this won't work especially for the young ones.

abstinence works for those who have no partner. LOL! seriously though, it's not effective. it's the most useless method i have ever encountered.
