Prevention is better that cure!

What are the necessary tests that a mother should consider before and during pregnancy that would help determine and possibly prevent miscarriage / pregnancy loss?

WinonaBlues - October 1st, 2009 7:36 PM

Genetic testing that may help mothers determine the causes of some genetic disorder and find treatment as early as preparing for pregnancy.

Lipstick - October 2nd, 2009 9:57 PM

Yeah Genetic tests are important but there are various genetic tests available. The most common is the DNA test that could check the hereditary conditions of the mother.

MarieLD - October 2nd, 2009 10:01 PM

Is there a test that will give results for all possible disease that might affect pregnancy?

MoM - October 2nd, 2009 10:33 PM

DNA test as Lipstick mentioned and blood tests will be necessary and helpful.

I AGREE THAT THESE TESTS ARE HELPFUL BUT IT CAN'T GIVE 100% GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL PREVENT PREGNANCY LOSS.

Angela16 - November 9th, 2009 1:55 PM

That's true HOPE but at least there is an idea or chance that you can avoid a pregnancy loss because of early knowledge.

Emmie - November 26th, 2009 8:41 PM

It is true that it may not be 100% guaranteed but at least you'll be informed of possible risks.

Amniocentesis is a helpful test too. Try to check another topic about it.

Chorionic villlus sampling is another test to determine chromosomal abnormality. A small piece of placental tissue is removed using a needle.

LotsOfLove - December 8th, 2009 8:56 PM

If we undergo these tests, what is the percentage of preventing a miscarriage?
