There are certain food that a pregnant woman should avoid. One is eating shell food because it was believed to have caused miscarriage. I'm not sure if it was proven. Can anyone give some views on the food to avoid and what are its effects?

Uncleaned food or contaminated food may cause a miscarriage if not attended right away. It may be considered a food poison.

Just wanted to ask why does shell food cause miscarriage? What is the reason behind it?

I think the reason for the shell food is that it is not easy to digest. Another is like you said maybe the shell is not properly cleaned. I know it is a case to case basis but we just have to be careful.

Some say spicy food causes miscarriage. I can't find any reason for such. Does anybody know why?

I miscarried because I ate some food that was not supposed to be eaten by a pregnant woman. My mother said that because I ate too much spicy food.

Food that are very bitter would also cause miscarriage. I heard that from my aunt who experienced such. Anyone who can confirm that?

I think bitter food like herbs if taken in abundance would result to induce abortion.

Raw foods are not safe to be eaten by a pregnant woman, like raw meat and eggs.

Kirsten- Spicy foods and hot foods would result to overheating that can cause miscarriage.

Hot foods would include pineapple, peanuts, papaya, and eggplant.

Food with too much caffeine can be harmful too and may cause miscarriage.

It is encourages not to take anything with caffeine while pregnant but is not avoided caffeine intake should be limited to like one cup of coffee per day.

I'm not quite familiar with the kind of food that causes miscarriage but I do know it is possible to be the main cause. Mother's should be careful on what they eat because being pregnant is very tricky at times.
