i've heard that mothers who have morning sickness are least likely to miscarry. how true is this?

Sally - December 8th, 2009 9:25 PM

Really? I think it applies to me because I never experience morning sickness and I miscarried.

strawberry - December 8th, 2009 9:33 PM

well each pregnancy is discrete of other pregnancies. i wanted to know the reason for this observation.

VANESSA - December 8th, 2009 9:56 PM

NEVER HEARD OF THIS BUT DO YOU THINK IT HAS A CONNECTION WITH THE THINGS THAT WE EAT AND IF THEY VOMIT IT OUT IT MEANS LESS UNWANTED FOOD INSIDE THAT MAY HAVE AN EFFECT TO THE BABY?

strawberry - December 8th, 2009 10:02 PM

maybe there is a connection with it. because there are also food that may cause miscarriage.

NanciH - December 8th, 2009 11:13 PM

It does not always follow because it could also be possible that moms with morning sickness experience pregnancy problems that may be a risk to miscarry.

Amor Vander - December 9th, 2009 9:34 PM

Morning sickness has several factors and it may be possible to assume that mothers with such experience may have lower risk.

Sally - December 13th, 2009 10:13 AM

What is the main reason for this? But having morning sickness is not easy at all. Really hard and irritating.

strawberry - December 13th, 2009 11:04 AM

case to case basis. yeah i agree that such morning sickness is really hard, the frequent vomiting is so irritating and sometimes destroys the mood of the mother.

cRoWdEdRoOm - December 13th, 2009 11:09 AM

Having morning sickness can be avoided by eating some crackers before getting up to set the mood of the baby. About the possibility of having a lower risk to miscarry is far out of the topic.

strawberry - December 13th, 2009 11:15 AM

well that is your opinion cRoWdEdRoOm and i respect that. i have just read this possibility so i was kind of curious if this is true.

cRoWdEdRoOm - December 13th, 2009 11:17 AM

Yeah, I understand and I just feel like this might mislead or give false hopes to other mothers.

Ladylou - December 16th, 2009 10:37 AM

I don't think so because I've had morning sickness and I still miscarried, had an ectopic pregnancy.

Amanda - December 16th, 2009 10:48 AM

Studies or observations are just possibilities and we can't say these are true all the time.

AileenMay - December 16th, 2009 9:17 PM

I also think this is not true all the time. Morning sickness can even be dangerous to cause dehydration and would need medical assistance.

strawberry - December 16th, 2009 9:20 PM

so when do we need to seek medical assistance because i thought morning sickness is just normal.

AileenMay - December 16th, 2009 9:40 PM

Morning sickness is normal if it is not beyond the acceptable ways. Like if you are vomiting 3 to 4 times a day and no matter how you apply some procedures to avoid it, it still persists.
