does over exercising dangerous and may promote high risk of pregnancy loss?

s U s I e - November 26th, 2009 7:57 PM

It may be dangerous. Too much of something can really be harmful.

Emmie - November 26th, 2009 8:37 PM

Exercising is important during pregnancy. I guess it is not advisable to do heavy exercises. Basic exercise like walking or swimming are not dangerous but helpful. On the other hand, if done over the normal then it may cause some risks.

Almond…STAR - November 26th, 2009 9:33 PM

This rarely happens. When pregnant we even hate exercising. Emmie explained it well.

HEAVENKNOWS - November 26th, 2009 11:12 PM

I agree that over exercising is dangerous. I think this may be possible to mothers whose nature of work is like carrying heavy stuffs or maybe standing the time of duty.

XoXo - November 30th, 2009 7:10 PM

This could be a high risk. Standing during work is not healthy especially during the later part of the pregnancy. It may also cause miscarriage due to too much stress at work.

Amanda - December 1st, 2009 9:26 PM

Yeah it may promote miscarriage if done in excess. It is quite weird though that some would suggest too much exercise.

VANESSA - December 8th, 2009 9:32 PM

STRENUOUS EXERCISES SHOULD BE AVOIDED AND AT EARLY STAGE OF PREGNANCY IT IS NOT REALLY ADVISABLE TO DO SOME EXERCISE BECAUSE A MOTHER HAS A HIGHER RISK OF MISCARRIAGE. AFTER 18 WEEKS GESTATION IT IS ADVISABLE TO DO SOME LIGHT EXERCISES IN PREPARATION FOR THE DELIVERY.

Sally - December 8th, 2009 9:36 PM

Thanks for sharing HEAVENKNOWS. Early stage of pregnancy is really sensitive but maybe you could ask your OB for advice if you are getting use of exercising.

MoM - December 8th, 2009 9:44 PM

Maybe physical exercises should be lessen but more on the breathing exercises because as your baby grows it is difficult to breathe normally.

NanciH - December 8th, 2009 10:53 PM

Yeah also yoga and similar light exercises are safe for pregnant mothers.

BrendaWarren - December 9th, 2009 9:40 PM

Swimming will also help a lot. As the baby grows it more advisable to exercise but it is only the discomfort that would stop most mothers from exercising.

bambi - December 9th, 2009 9:46 PM

But there are pregnancies that do not really require exercise at all, like mothers who need to have a bed rest.

SusanRenz - December 16th, 2009 5:01 PM

Of course not all exercises will be applicable to all mothers because pregnancy will differ from one mother to the other. Talking in general, mothers should stick to lower intensity workouts. To avoid risks an obstetrician or an exercise instructor can be consulted first, instructors that are experienced in pre-natal exercises.

Brightcurve - December 16th, 2009 5:20 PM

Yes, prenatal exercises are recommended. When mothers are use to exercising before being pregnant then the intensity should be lessen to half of her usual workouts.

Imhere - December 16th, 2009 5:41 PM

What are the benefits of having prenatal exercises? Do we really need it?

Brightcurve - December 16th, 2009 5:46 PM

Your question Imhere is answered by SusanRenz above. To add to the benefit, mother who exercise are less likely to develop birth defects.
