A female checking a male's parts is NO different than a male checking a female parts. So yeah they can, there are some male gyno's. They're aren't many thou.

Not a lot of people are willing to do this job. Its not that they have to, its that they don't WANT to. Don't you think it would be incredibly awkward if a guy was poking at yoru privates and vice versa. Also its reputation in the hospital, a lot of coworkers laugh at you, since its such a taboo job.

Nurses who are men DO "check" females genitals - just like Drs do. Its part of the job.

Certainly when I was a midwife I did this hundreds of times - how else do you ensure the wellbeing of the woman?

IN some areas there are hospitals against this to protect from claims of sexual assault, but its not a requirement.
