I heard of this too. You can get tested at planned parenthood if your doctor will not do it. Make sure that the test that you receive is HerpesSelect. Ask for it by name. |

If it is HSV1, that is different from HSV2 in terms of transmission and management. Genital HSV1 is less transmissible because it recurs less frequently, sheds less virus, and 60% of the population has already been exposed to HSV1 (most via cold sores). |
