It only increases your risk by a hair if any. Most cases of cancer caused from HPV are cervical cancer not oral. HPV is a skin Virus and 8 out of 10 sexually activre people have some type of HPV. There is no test that can be peformed unless you have a out break of genital warts or a female has an abnormal pap smear. |

There is no oral test currently available, though i would think it should be coming out soon- theyve developed it its just in the testing process its just like a rinse things. |

Testing for oral hpv may not even come into the mainstream because it is such a common virus- kinda like how they dont vaginally hpv test women under 30 because it is so likely that they do have it (like the person above said 80% of sexually active people have it) . |

Overall I would relax, hpv is so common take care of your risk of cervical cancer by getting routine paps- the oral/throat cancer connection is very small keep going to the dentist to get screened for oral cancer (they do this every time you have a cleaning) if you want even talk to your dentist about it and get his professional opinion- it will put your mind at ease. i think all the publicity is in order to advocate getting the gardasil shot given to men to be honest (which i am all for) |
