Two days ago a bump appeared on my labia majora. It has grown in size to about a centimeter in diameter and is filled with pus and it painful. I do not want to pop it because I am afraid of scarring. It appears to be either a large zit, a cyst, infected hair follicle, or a blister. It may or may not be an STD. I am sexually active.

This sounds like a cyst or boil. I am sorry its in the place it is - that has to really hurt.

I would get this checked by a doctor. You might need an antibiotic to get rid of whatever bacteria is causing this. Have them culture it to make sure it isn't MRSA, which is a particular kind of staph that only responds to a few antibiotics.

OMG i pretty much have the same thing, did you ever get the result of what it was? I have to wait at urgent care tomorrow to have mine looked at. I only have one partner and we were both checked early in the relationship for std's and everything was negative ... but still sometimes you can never be sure.

Just go to the doc and get some antibiotic cream. If it is just like the size of a pimple with pus, it is due to bacterial infection of the hair follicle. This could happen from waxing/shaving.

I have read many post that was put up. Just recently i noticed a lump on the right side of the labia majora close to top. One day is was just a bump you could pick up with your fingers and move it and it didnt hurt well i had a doctors appt for something else and while i was there i had the dr check it out. he was going to drain it but it didnt hurt and it didnt have a head so i was given an antibiotic and he told me if it was better in a couple of days to come back and have it drained.
i go back 2 days later and at this point taking the antibiotic for 2 days wasnt long enough and it started to hurt and turned red, so i came home from work and got a gauze pad and soak it with tea tree oil and put it on the bump which was little bigger than a quater and let it set for about and hour or so. I go to the dr and now she is looking at it and all she did was touch it and out came blood and pus. she said she didnt know much about tea tree oil but i always try herbal and she said she heard good things about tea tree oil and said it must have made it come to a head. she took a sample and told me they would call me in a few days with the results. she said it look like staph which could also be know as a boil. i was told i could alternate between the tea tree oil if i chose to and bactoban oinment and she gave me an antibiotic shot and oral pills of clindamycin. i was told to keep it clean with alcohol wash with antibacterial soap and to put either the oil or ointment or alternate the two. I will tell you this i still have the bump but after she got the pus and blood out i felt and still feel so much relief. i can actually sit in a hard chair with no problem. this was my diagnoses from my health care provider and every provider feels different but if nothing changes i would ask them about the oil which you can buy at any health food stores or beauty stores such as sallys or walmart , ointment and antibiotic. the bump is still kind of big but right now i could live with that than the pain i had.
