I have been trying for a baby for the past 9 months and recently in the pat 2 months my periods have been all over the place. The DR says they will not do any tests until i have been trying to conceive for 12 months or longer. Can anyone give me any advice or been in a similar situation?

Hi there,
I think it depands on your age really. If you are in the older age group where it could prove difficult to get pregnant, they would start looking into it right away. But if 'age' is on your side then I think they do give you more time just to see.

Sometimes it can just take a while, particularly if you have been on birth control for a number of years.

Basically when they do decide to run tests it will start with your partner. They test his semen first as it is the 'less invasive' proceedure.

If there is no problems they will then begin to run test with you... blood test to check hormone levels, rubella etc.. They will also start doing ovualation tracking, which starts around day 9 of your cycle to check for ovualtion....

Don't wanna confuse you but thats just the intial test... I've been through them all :)

If you want any more info or a friendly ear let me know Kerry x
