Im 55, widowed a couple of years ago, have a grown up son and 3 young grand children. Im thought i was still having periods, but after speaking finally to my doctor it seems i may be bleeding for other reasons possibly. Over last couple of years my periods got worse, this last year i have a lot of heavy loss of clots. Lately i can go through day with little or no blood, sometimes a little a few times in day, but then later in day lose some clots. This past couple of weeks, it seems like its just regular loss of a bit of blood each day, nothing much but enough to worry and bother me. Its hard to know if its finally coming to an end or if its just a stopgap before setting off again, i hope it wont be. I dont smoke, drink particularly, I havent had a sex life for many years, Ive not been on the pill or HRT. I have no pain in my abdomen. I am overweight but recently lost nearly 10 lbs with weight watchers so trying to deal with that.
My present blood loss, though only light and maneagable, has gone on for now 4 weeks without an actual break. Can anyone relate to my symtoms? My doctor says he will do an FSH blood test soon, and if im still bleeding when im 56 next year he will send me for further investigation. I am also very nervous and afraid of internal examinations and havent had a smear test. Im just very phobic of those things. I told doctor that and he says there are mild anaesthetics to deal with that fear at examinations.
