I know herpes is an std, but can it be in your system for years and come out through depression and stress? Like after having a child or any tragedy,or your partner was cheating.

If your partner was cheating and you were still having sex with that partner, it's more likely that your partner gave it to you recently.

Your partner can transfer you the STD if he was cheating also when you are stressed out or depressed your immune system weakens so disease surface at these times.

Symptoms come and go since herpes is a virus. It can cause body's systems to become hyperactive. It is just part of your body's defenses.

Yes the virus lies latent in the spinal cord and it gets reactivated by physical or mental stress.

If you're seeing eruptions, ask your doctor about an antiviral drug like valcyclovir to take when you see the first blister showing. The drug should make your rash less painful and shorter.
