STD panel - what's on it

I had a pap smear and bloodwork done at my last GYN exam in august, as I was worried about STDs after one risky unprotected sexual encounter. What exactly did they test me for? They ran through it incredibly quickly on the phone, but all I remember is that syphilis was part of the blood test (everything, whatever "everything" means, was negative)

Typically, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, HSV1, HSV2, HIV, and sometimes Hep B and Hep C.

Unfortunately this leaves HPV, Trichomonas, Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma, and Molluscum contagiosum untested. For Molluscum contagiosum there is no test available, but it's such a minor condition that you needn't worry about it.

I would say you should take care about it,at least think about the boyfriend you might be having & let him know honestly about your condition & leave the decision to him.

She didn't say she had a condition.

There is no such thing as an std panel, and what you get tested for really depends on your doc or clinic.

You should be tested for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, hiv and herpes, at the very least.

If you are female, you should talk to your doc about the HPV test being done in conjunction with your pap smear.

Hep C is almost never spread via sex, so unless you have a partner with hep c, or use injection drugs, or snort drugs and share equipment, you don't need to worry about Hep C.
